Marathon



Sightseeing on the run. Experience the beauty of baroque and nature for as far as your feet will carry you. Course highlights include the historic old town full of famous Dresden landmarks and the lively new town district, built in the 19th century and buzzing with restaurants, shops, and pubs today. The flat, fast course takes you over the Waldschlösschen bridge, through the Grand Garden, and along the banks of the Elbe river.

The second round loops through the Blasewitz district, offering a spectacular view of picturesque castles on the Elbe hillside in Loschwitz. More than 300 musicians and bands create a fun, energizing atmosphere along the way. As you approach the finish line at the MARITIM HOTEL, you’ll be greeted with cheers and applause from numerous spectators.

Information for Before the Event

Runners born in 2004 and older are eligible to participate.

Registration can be completed online at www.dresden-marathon.com or by mailing in the postal registration form. By registering, all participants confirm they have read and accepted the general terms and conditions. For group registrations and registration by third parties, the applicant confirms that all registered persons have read and accepted the terms and conditions.

Each participant will receive an individual bib number. The bib number is not transferable. The transponder for time measurement is integrated into the bib number. The bib number must be clearly visible on the front of the jersey and may not be kinked, covered, or altered in any manner.

There is NO limit on the number of participants at the DRESDEN-MARATHON.

The registration deadline for online registration is October 3, 2022 at 11.59 p.m. Postal registrations must be postmarked by October 1, 2022.

Late registrations are possible from October 4, 2022, 12.00 a.m. to October 13, 2022, 11.59 p.m.

Late registrations at the International Congress Center Dresden will be accepted from October 14, 2022, 3 p.m. to October 16, 2022, 9.30 a.m.

Further changes and corrections can be made at the bib number issue (help desk) for a processing fee of € 5.00 *.

There are NO additional costs for timekeeping.

International participants can choose payment either by credit card or SEPA direct debit.

In order to use the SEPA procedure, the payment service provider must sign the “Adherence Agreements of the European Payments Council (EPC).”

Incorrect information and associated fees or remittances are at the expense of the participant.

Immediately after successful online registration, a registration confirmation with the bib number will be sent by email. All participants who have registered by 11.59 p.m. on October 13th, 2022 will receive an additional registration confirmation by email shortly before the event. When picking up your bib number, a printout or digital copy of the registration confirmation is mandatory. Bib number pickup by another person is possible with a power of attorney and the official registration confirmation.

Bib numbers/race packets will not be sent to you.

After registration, there is no entitlement to reimbursement of the registration fee (consisting of the organizational fee plus the fee for booked additional services) or for the issuing of a voucher for a subsequent event (see Terms and Conditions). This applies even in cases of no show due to illness.

The use of inline skates, Nordic walking poles, or other equipment is not permitted. Jogging buggies/strollers and dogs are prohibited. Unauthorized bike escort (without the organizer's official authorization plate) leads to immediate disqualification of the escorted runner.

Participation is at your own risk. By receiving your bib number, you confirm there are no health concerns regarding your participation. To support an optimal start to physical activity and to prevent possible health risks, we ask that you carefully fill out a short health questionnaire. The data will be scientifically documented by the German Sport University Cologne. An evaluation of your information is provided at the end of the questionnaire. Click here for the questionnaire.

The organizer assumes no liability for lost clothing or personal items. Lost and found items will be deposited at the INFORMATION desk during the event and at the Congress Center security after the event (for 14 days).

Please pick up your bib number on Friday or Saturday if possible. This will help you avoid unnecessary stress before the start and will give you the chance to experience the atmosphere of the Marathon Expo and the Pasta Party.

The exhibitor profile includes sporting goods and equipment, sportswear and shoes, running and sports accessories, sports medicine, nutrition and health, sports literature, travel, running and sports events, and much more.

The traditional Pasta Party with LIVE MUSIC will take place on Saturday, October 15th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to network, exchange training and nutrition tips with sports fans, and enjoy the last carbo load before the big run. Register in advance to receive a special discounted price of 3.00 €*. Separate the coupon from your bib number and hand it in at the pasta counter.

The competition area is close to the main train station (approx. 2 km) and the Dresden-Neustadt train station (approx. 1 km). Dresden International Airport is approximately 8 km away. Timetables for the Dresden Public Transport Company are available at: https://www.dvb.de/en-gb/.
You can reach the marathon starting area by car or bus via BAB 4, junction Dresden-Altstadt (78). Continue on B 6 for approx. 3 km toward the CITYCENTER/MESSE DRESDEN. Follow the parking lot signs marked "MARATHON." Parking fee is € 5.00 / day. DESTINATION FOR NAVIGATION DEVICE: 01067 Dresden, Messering 6. If coming from other directions, detours and road closures can be expected on marathon day.

The start/finish area is located at Pieschener Allee/Devrientstrasse, approx. 800m from the Dresden city center (Zwinger, Semperoper).
The bib number issue, registration office, and marathon expo are located in the International Congress Center Dresden (Ostraufer/corner of Devrientstrasse). The start/finish area is easily accessible by public transport. Your bib number is valid on October 17, 2021 as a ticket for all forms of public transport (not including special transport) in the Dresden tarif zone. It is approximately a 5-minute walk from the Postplatz tram stop as well as from the Dresden-Mitte S-Bahn station. Tram lines 6 and 11 bring you to "Congress Center."
Please check for any schedule and route changes posted by the Dresden Public Transport Company on race day.

Information for Race Day

Running time is measured exclusively by means of an RFID transponder attached to the back of your bib number. Please secure the bib at chest level with safety pins. The bib number may not be kinked, covered, or altered; otherwise timekeeping cannot be guaranteed. Gun and chip times will be available in the results. Finishers who cross the start, finish, and all the control mats laid out on the course will be evaluated according to chip time (effective running time).

There is no extra fee for the transponder. It is not necessary to return the transponder.

Bag check is located in the underground garage at the International Congress Center. Remember to write your race number on your official starting bag before handing it in at the drop-off desk that corresponds to your bib number. (Look for signs indicating bib number ranges). It is not possible to drop off your bag at the marathon starting line! Bags must be picked up no later than 5 p.m.

The organizer is not liable for any damages or loss of personal items.

The starting line-up begins at 10.10 a.m. at Pieschener Allee (approx. 700m from the Congress Center).

Starting blocks (marked on bib): A+E (Elite) / B / C.

Start time is 10.30 a.m.

The finish line closes at 4.00 p.m.

Aid stations at km 10 / 16 / 20.6 / 26 / 30 / 31.6 / 37 and the finish offer tea, water, Xenofit iso-drinks, bananas, and raisin bread.
The second round also offers Xenofit energy bars and gel, Coke, and salt.

Aid stations at km 5,5 / 19 / 39,8 offer pure still water.

Tea, apples, watermelon, and ERDINGER non-alcoholic beer are also available at the finish.

To avoid collisions, we ask that you use the entire length of the aid stations.

In cooperation with the CEP pace team, the organizer provides proven pacemakers for the following target times: 3:00 / 3:15 / 3:30 / 3:45 / 4:00 / 4:15 / 4:30 hrs.

Participants who have not reached the checkpoint at km 20.5 within 2 hours and 45 minutes after the start (i.e. by 1.15 pm) will either be removed from the race or reclassified as participants of the half marathon (at their own request) if they cross the finish line.

If during the event you decide to run only the half marathon, you must contact the help desk (located in the Congress Center, Hall 4) immediately after crossing the finish line to change your registration.

Information for After the Event

Immediately after the race, you can have your name and net running time engraved on your finisher medal at the Congress Center (Hall 5). You can book this service when registering (€ 6.00*). An “M” will be printed on your race bib. Please show your bib number at the medal engraving booth.

If you haven’t booked in advance, you can also pay in cash at the event (€ 8.00*).

The Marathon-Photos.com team is the official photo partner of the DRESDEN-MARATHON. Each participant who has provided an e-mail address at registration will be sent a link that provides direct access to his or her personal photos as soon as they are posted are online. These photos can be purchased for an additional fee.

Showers, changing rooms and toilet facilities are available at the finish area. Current information and a map can be found in your race packet.

After successfully crossing the finish line, each runner will receive a high-quality finisher medal.

The overall marathon winners will be honored in an awards ceremony on stage in the large hall of the Congress Center at approximately 1.50 p.m. (men) and 1.50 p.m. (women).

The marathon award ceremonies by age group will begin at approximately 2.30 p.m.

Results and certificates (available for download or printing) will be posted on www.dresden-marathon.com starting 17 October 2022.
