MARATHON RELAY

Whether as a club, a company, a family, or a group of friends – why not run a full marathon together?

The marathon relay lets you experience the unique marathon atmosphere as a team:
train together – run together – win and celebrate together.

You will run on the original marathon course covering 42.195 kilometers, divided into four sections between approximately 6 and 14 kilometers.

The course takes you past baroque architecture and green parks, through Dresden’s historic old town, the Großer Garten, and along the banks of the Elbe River.

Depending on age and fitness level, team members can choose sections of different lengths.

The highlight of your relay experience is the shared finish under the applause of thousands of spectators inside Heinz-Steyer-Stadion.

Finishers 2025: 151 relay teams.

Information for Race Day

Each relay team receives five bib numbers.
Four of them are assigned to the individual runners and must be worn visibly on the chest throughout the race.

The fifth bib number serves as the relay bib and must be handed over from runner to runner at each changeover point. This bib contains the single-use transponder, which functions as the timing chip.

Each team receives a DRESDEN-MARATHON bib belt for easy attachment.

The team’s overall net time as well as the split times for each relay section are recorded when the start line, finish line, and all intermediate timing mats are crossed.

Important:
The split timing mats are located at the exit of each relay zone on the main course.

The bib numbers of the marathon relay participants are color-coded and differ from those of the other marathon runners. This allows marshals to easily identify relay participants and direct them to the respective changeover points.

The bib number must be worn visibly on the front at all times.

The changeover points are easily accessible by public transport.
Due to the numerous road closures along the course, participants should not attempt to organize private transportation to the changeover points.

The relay changeover zones are separated from the main running course.
Approximately 100 meters before each changeover point, signs and marshals will indicate the upcoming relay zone.

At each changeover point there is a “pit lane” for handing over the relay baton (the 5th bib number attached to the DRESDEN-MARATHON bib belt).
Assignment to the respective relay boxes is based on the bib number.

Travel to and from the relay changeover points is recommended by public transport.
Your bib number serves as a ticket on marathon day.

Please allow sufficient travel time on race day, as road closures may cause delays.
