MARATHON

RUN THROUGH HISTORY

Baroque architecture and green landscapes accompany you throughout the course. Highlights include Dresden’s historic Old Town with Brühl’s Terrace, the Semper Opera House and many famous baroque buildings, as well as the vibrant Neustadt district. More than 300 musicians and numerous bands create a lively atmosphere along the entire route. The flat and fast course leads through the illuminated Waldschlösschen Tunnel, across the Waldschlösschen Bridge and on to the Großer Garten before returning toward the city center.

The second half of the marathon differs noticeably from the first. It includes a loop through the district of Blasewitz with beautiful views of the castles on the Loschwitz hillside and the villas along Goetheallee. Along the banks of the Elbe River, runners return to the Old Town, pass beneath Brühl’s Terrace and the Semper Opera House, and finally reach the marathon gate of Heinz-Steyer-Stadion. After half a lap inside the stadium and cheered on by thousands of spectators, you cross the finish line.
